PRIVATE LESSON: Veil Technique

This item is an hour long private veil bellydance lesson. Starting with the foundations of veil work which will give you confidence in working with a veil, we'll move on to graceful individual movements and combinations. Also a great opportunity for a more experienced dancer to “troubleshoot” your veil work! We'll discuss your particular goals and styles to create a personalized lesson just for you.

Prior to moving to Boston, Katie studied and performed with Shoshanna, the country's foremost veil dancer and instructor, for five years as a member of her troupe Ya Habibi. PRIVATE LESSON: Fundamentals of Bellydance

This introductory private lesson lays the foundations for American Tribal Style (ATS), Improvisational Tribal Style (ITS), and tribal fusion dance with belly dance's signature movements: isolations, shimmies, sinuous arms, and undulations. Through drills and combinations emphasizing proper body mechanics, the student will learn strong tribal-based technique, build flexibility and strength, develop musicality, and explore improvisation. PRIVATE LESSON: Tribal Fusion

This one hour private is geared toward the continuing tribal belly dance student. Lesson is customized to address each dancer's personal dance goals! Some topics that can be addressed are: intermediate level shimmy technique (incl. layering and triplets on the down), slow/liquid movements, pops and locks, ITS (Improvised Tribal Style) combinations, original Vadalna combos, and stage craft.
Kalidasi- Private Tribal Fusion Lesson
Choreographer and dancer for over 15 years, Kalidasi has studied and performed several forms of dance, most notably West African, ballet, Broadway jazz styles, and the Horton Technique in modern dance. She also had the privilege of studying Russian movement and biomechanics at the St. Petersburg Performing Arts Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia. Kalidasi now dances full time as a principal member of Vadalna Tribal Dance Company. She teaches weekly classes and private lessons on American Tribal Style and Tribal Fusion belly dance in the Boston area.

Reiki Session- One Hour

An energy healing session is a deeply personal experience and can vary greatly depending on an individual's needs and intentions. We will always do an intake before we begin to discuss any specific issues or concerns you may have. From there sacred space is created and the energetic field scanned and dowsed with pendulums to detect any holes, cords, or blocks. If appropriate, crystals will be placed upon the body, and finally Reiki will be administered. Shamanic guided visualizations as well as messages from Spirit will often play a huge part in our session. You can always ask questions during this time or rest quietly in the energies, whichever feels best for you.

Ashley Burgess is an Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Master with 10 years experience in the realm of energy healing. She specializes in healing grief and loss as well as integrating the body, mind, and spirit. Ashley is an Edgewalker in the Shamanic tradition, a student of Tantra, and a full initiate in the Inkan Munay-Ki Rites. She received her Avalonian priestess training under the tutelage of Jhenah Telyndru, Arch Priestess and Morgen of the Sisterhood of Avalon as well as several years of training with a North American shaman. In 2004 Ashley graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Theatre & Women’s Studies from Wheaton College and has dedicated her adult life to empowering young women through the realm of sacred dance and movement.
